SAVEZ VISIT TO KING TOMISLAV

February 26th and 27th, members of the Croatian Soccer Federation of Australia and New Zealand visited King Tomislav Club in Sydney to meet with the team organising the 37 th Annual Croatian Soccer Tournament.

We were warmly received by the very hospitable people of Sydney. It was great to meet the team lead by President of King Tomislav Club, Tome Lerotic. The location of the event and the supporting sites look in great condition and will look even better once we're all there come tournament time.

The main pitch, grandstands and change room facilities are well kept and the supporting areas for dining, entertaining and refreshments are expansive and well provided for. There will be two supporting grounds and in total 5 pitches to play the lead up matches. There is the main stadium and behind it are two ground with two pitches on each, that are approx 500mts away, both supporting grounds have kids playgrounds, change facilities and refreshment areas. The organisers have also arranged for a family friendly area on the warm up pitch at King Tomislav which will include jumping castles and rides.  The popularity of the ladies luncheon looks set to stay as King Tomislav have some special plans in place.

On Sunday we were proudly shown the new spit roasting oven which King Tomislav acquired and trialled out on the Sunday for the Rocklea United fundraiser picnic which was a great hit. The lamb and pork were to die for well done chefs. Brisbane Croatia were there also and represented by Dino Badrak with his team of the committee and they showed us an emotional video of what they went through during the floods. Their fight is going to be a long one but they are prepared to do the hard work. The devastation of the floods has stirred their community and people are looking to help them whichever way they can. We can be proud of ourselves as our support from across the nation has helped them to realise they can do it. At this event also the unveiling of the tournament logo was done with President Ivan Vuletic in attendance. If you visit www.crotournament2011.com.au King Tomislav's official tournament website you will see the great job they have done with the logo. One look says it all, the theme, UNITE – PLAY - CELEBRATE, that's exactly what we are there for. A well attended event which was also well supported by local folkoric group Lindo.

Further on to our meetings and Dinko Lerotic, Mark Jukic and Ante Buterin took us through their extensive worklist and indicated all the people they have to support the event and we were delighted to hear how far advanced their plans were. Bands for all four nights were booked, Thursday Night will be the traditional meet and greet team rego night with the Opening Match and Ceremony, Friday we get straight into the action on the pitch followed by the AGM and Friday night disco at King Tomislav. Saturday it's finalizing the group matches followed by Miss Croatia Gala and we're off to the Darling Harbour Convention centre for what promises to be a night to remember and we wrap up the weekend with Sunday's finals and the recovery party.

King Tomislav thank you immensely for your hospitality, we look forward to hearing more of your progress in the coming weeks.

From the Savez
